Fiction Friday #7- Fortuneteller

This is a song I wrote about a crazy person in loveeeee.

***

you work on the boardwalk reading cards to unlucky strangers
i stopped by one day on a whim
and it took me by surprise when i looked into your eyes
and i thought to myself
i gotta have him

when you flipped over the card and love appeared
i took it as a sign that you knew you would be mine
it’s slight exaggeration to say i deserved incarceration
but i could have backed off when security stepped in

what can i say?
fortunetellers hate surprises
and love at first sight is hard to diagnose
but i wouldn’t call it stalking
it was clear we were just talking
and you didn’t respond to the letters that i wrote

my sister says you’re off on holiday
and i told her that was a mistake
because i don’t believe, honey, that you’d leave
for love or money when you know that my parole starts saturday

what can i say?
fortunetellers hate surprises
and love at first sight is hard to diagnose
but you didn’t have to call the police
when i twisted the terms of release

what can i say?
fortunetellers hate surprises
and love at first sight is hard to diagnose
but i wouldn’t call it psycho
because this feelings just so right oh
i believe we’ll be together again someday
